About Pixshire
The Legacy
Virginia Flowers
Pixshire is based on a family tradition of showmanship established by Jack's parents. Jack's mother, Virginia Flowers, founded Pixshire Beagles in the 1960s. Over the course of her show career she finished almost 200 AKC champions, mostly her own Pixshire Beagles. Ginger showed dogs all over the world, between regular appearances at the Westminster Kennel Club and prestigious shows across the United States. Her success was not limited to her beagles; she also owned and handled Ch. Brentcliffe Jill, the winningest Harrier of all time with 32 Best in Shows in three years. Although Ginger retired from breeding and handling many years ago, the Pixshire name still appears in the pedigrees of many champion beagles in the U.S., Scandinavia, and Latin America.
You can read a 1981 article about the competition heading into that year's Westminster Kennel Club at Madison Square Garden here.
Stanley Flowers
Jack's father, Stanley Flowers, was one of the most successful dog handlers in the history of the sport with a career spanning 70 years. Over the course of his career he finished countless champions of all breeds in all groups. Although he was a professional handler of all breeds, Stan was known and celebrated most for his accomplishments with Boxers. Amongst his many accomplishments, only two boxers with natural ears have ever won Best in Show in the United States and both of them were handled by Stanley Flowers.
Stan and his wife Jane, a successful dog handler and breeder in her own right, bred, showed, and finished numerous English and French Bulldogs under their Evergreen Kennel banner.
Stan and Jane are both deceased but are remembered for their devotion to their sport, generosity, and their mentoring of generations of younger dog fanciers.
